After Leo's birthday party, the family went out to dinner at Pasquini's, where Leo had his first bite of pizza. Leo says: "YUM!" (And "MORE!")

Squeakers!
Leo's Gammy and Gampy got him some "Squeakers" shoes to encourage him to take steps. He loves them! Here he is walking with his Nonno.

This is what happens when you give a little watered down apple juice to an 11 month old!

Lots is new in Leo Land!
Well, it has been a bit since I've hopped on the ol' blog. I think the combination of a very mobile, very active baby, a new computer that I had to get to know, and my new job has kept me away.
But I'm here now and there's lots going on! Leo had a great first Halloween. We did "Trick or Treat Street" (basically a block party) with Rene and Ella. Leo was a lion, naturally. Then we hopped on over to Belmar, where shops were doing trick-or-treating, and Leo got his first Halloween treat - a sticker. It's on his bulletin board. On Halloween he also sprouted two new teeth, so now he's like a little bulldog with four teeth on the bottom and all gums on top. He hasn't let me get a photo of the new choppers yet.
This past weekend, we had Rene, Bill and Ella over for a Saturday brunch (my Mexican Strata plan was foiled, thank God for pre-made quiches!) and then ventured over to the park. Ella isn't crawling yet, so I think Rene and Bill were a bit taken aback by how much extra work a mobile little dude is! On Sunday, Leo attended his first birthday party - Gage, his daycare friend, turned 2! It was a nice afternoon filled with babies and toddlers, sloppy joes and cupcakes, and a trip to a new park. I liked this park because instead of dirty, choking hazard wood chips on the ground, it had this delightful bouncy, soft stuff that Leo could just cruise around on happily. The dads played football while the moms chatted and the babies roamed, and it was a nice day.
I am still breastfeeding, but Leo seems less and less interested in milk and more and more interested in food. He's developing a more finicky palate though - tonight he spit out and eventually THREW UP (yes, full on vomit, not spit up) the quesadillas I made for him. Okay, little man! Point taken!
I took off from work an hour early today to take him to the pediatrician and get his ears checked again. Ever since his ear infection he's been doing this weird neck twist/head shake thing. He saw a PA and she said his ears are fine, but there's probably a tiny amount of fluid in the right one. Supposedly it could take a month to clear up.
Alice is working out great. Vin drops Leo off at her house around 7:30/8:00 AM, and I pick him up around 12:45. He gets to play with his friends, take a nap and have some lunch, and then I get the rest of the afternoon with him! We usually run errands or go to the park or tool around the house. Leo basically destroys everything in his wake - Mommy folding laundry? He'll throw it in piles! Mommy washing dishes? He'll empty the drawer of measuring cups!
I go to the gym while Vin does bath and bedtime duty, and then we get a little time together before it's our bedtime (which is getting increasingly earlier!)
And now, for some photos!
Leo on the prowl on a Saturday morning:

This one was actually a month ago. Leo all bundled up on our way to the doctor - he had his ear infection at this point, but no croup yet. Poor baby.

SNOW DAY!! 10/28/09
up.

Halloween!

Hard at work:

While waiting impatiently for Daddy to make him waffles, Leo went into the pantry and took matters into his own hands!

Just chillin'....

Guess who's crawling?!
Today at 8 months 1 week Leo started crawling!
We made bets earlier this month, and my mom won - she guessed it, to the day!

He's on the move!
Look how close he's getting to crawling! Any bets on when exactly he'll start "officially" crawling?

Leo has gotten very grabby lately. I don't wear earrings much anymore, and necklaces are pretty much a no-go. I feel quite un-bedazzled these days.
Here he is demonstrating his snatching prowess.

I had a full day of training today. It was the longest I'd been away from my baby, and it was difficult. I was thrilled to come home to him this afternoon!

First finger foods!
Leo has shown all the readiness signs for finger foods. I give him puffs, but they get stuck to his palm and very rarely actually make it to his mouth. So we tried some steamed baby carrots today. I coated them in ground Cheerios to make them a little less slippery. I think he liked them, don't you?

Leo in his big boy bath!
Leo just graduated to the big boy bath! If you notice, you can see his teeth. I took 3 videos tonight because he was just too stinkin' cute for only a single video!

Stuff Leo loves, part 2
Leo really, really loves this singing rabbit that Aunt Sue and Uncle Richie gave him when we were in NYC. He usually sings with it, but I guess he got a little camera shy.

Stuff Leo loves.
I am starting a "Things Leo Loves" list.
First on the list? Mauri.

I can be putting on an elaborate show, singing, dancing, tickling, whatever. I might get a chuckle out of Leo. But if you want a full-on belly laugh from our son, it's Mauri all the way. I think his first word might be "Mauri," or at least "doggy."
Next on the list: blueberries.

Leo has a lot of favorite foods. He is a real eater; I guess he comes by it honestly, huh? Blueberries top the list of fave fruits.
To be continued....I have some videos and it's much quicker to post them separately!
